Eight killed in Bauchi

January 23, 2012 Leave a comment

IT was a dawn of bullets yesterday in Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State. Eleven people, including a soldier and a police officer, were killed.

The killings came two days after the Friday Boko Haram mayhem in Kano, which recorded the highest ever in the history of the sect’s strikes. More than 150 died.

But the Police and the community disagreed on the hoodlums’ mode of operation.

Bauchi State Police Commissioner Ikechukwu Aduba said the hoodlums killed 11 persons.

He said the hoodlums were in Tafawa Balewa to rob a bank, but were confronted by a combined team of armed soldiers and police.

Aduba who spoke to reporters in his office, said, “A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was killed in a nearby hotel in the town”, but did not give details.

He said: “An Army Lance Corporal was killed at the Bununu check point, eight civilians whose identities are yet to be known were also killed by the rampaging hoodlums.”

On whether any of the invaders was killed, the police boss said: “At three o’clock in the morning, it was dark and nobody could say what happened at Ganjuwa. These hoodlums go about with their diggers and shovels and I cannot say whether they bury their dead immediately, but we caught one of them with bullet wounds.”

Aduba said the police have stepped up investigation of 10 Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) found at the scene of crime. He said six persons have been arrested.

Also yesterday, three explosions occurred by the perimeter fence of Our Lady of Lauretto Catholic Church at 2:30a.m. and at ECWA Church Railway at 5a.m. in Bauchi metropolis. But there was no loss of life, but nearby buildings were affected.

Mr. Zhadi Bukata, a spokesperson for the Sayawa Elders and Sayawa Community in Tafawa Balewa Local government Area of Bauchi State said the Police Commissioner’s media briefing was misleading.

Zhadi said: “The family of Joel Galadima, himself, wife Rauta Galadima, Lumi Galadima, Simon Galadima and their children were attacked and killed in their house in Tafawa Balewa yesterday at about 2:40 am.”

“We have just buried the other five killed by the invaders. And the DSP that was killed was a Divisional Crime Office of Toro local Government Area in Bauchi who was on relief duty because the Divisional Police Officer is on leave,” he explained.

He also debunked claims by the Police Commissioner that the hoodlums came to rob a bank, saying: “Nobody went near a bank. People were attacked in their houses”.

“The family of five that was killed lived more than two kilometers away from the bank and there is no way anybody can go to rob a bank and will go into private houses killing the occupants.’’

“Please come to Tafawa Balewa and see the destruction these people caused. The Police Commissioner is being very economical with the truth on this attack. If he has any truth, why did he not give you the name of the acting DPO?” Zhadi queried.

A similar attack on a village on the outskirts of Tafawa Balewa on January 10 claimed three lives.

The slain police officer has been identified as Ola Adeleke, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Adeleke hailed from Ogun State and was Head of the Computer Section of the Lagos State Police Command before he was posted to Bauchi State last year.

He was sent to Tafawa Balewa Local Government on relief duty three weeks ago.

ASUU president will not call off the stike

January 22, 2012 Leave a comment

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it is not going to
suspend its ongoing strike as speculated by government, unless its demands are met.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, after a meeting with the various university vice-chancellors in Abuja told reporters that ASUU
would call off its three-month strike on Monday, following the cooperation and assurances she got from the university dons .

But ASUU President, Prof Ukachuchwu Awuzie yesterday, in a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY noted that, ASUU was not a member of the Association of Vice Chancellors, and as such, could not call off the action until government implemented its agreements with ASUU. He stressed that the lecturers’ body, would not abide by the Association’s call to end the strike.

“It’s all government’s propaganda! ASUU won’t call off its strike so long as government shies away from the issue of effective funding of the
universities”, Awuzie said.

The union leader who however expressed the union’s appreciation to the Senate for its efforts, especially in passing the bill for the extension of the retirement age of lectures from 65 to 70, but which is awaiting the president’s assent to become a law, said, “The year of retirement is just one of our demands, the funding is the cardinal,” he stressed.

On a positive note, Awuzie said, “Mr. President has scheduled a meeting with ASUU on Monday, If government accepts to implement our demand, that is when we will think of calling off the strike.

“Even at that, the National Executive Committee of ASUU will have to meet and have series of meetings to agree on when to call off the strike.

“However, with the intervention of Mr. President, I believe the solution will come faster than expected” Awuzie stated.

Angry Nigerians Posted this as a result of the silence on Kano Blast!

In Nigeria when subsidy is removed on petroleum, people protest & the whole country shuts down every activity & some patriots even die during the
protest, but when hundreds of people are killed by sects using bombs, nobody stages protest, comments vehemently against the act or insults the president, because it didn’t happen in… their vicinity & none of their relatives are affected or because they
are afraid to speak & get bombed too…

Where is that “Occupy Nigeria”?

Where is El-Rufai?

Where is Mr Tunde Bakere?

Where is Dino Melaye?

Where are the Celebrities?

Where are the Opposition Parties?

Where are Nigerians?

Were they all in the blast?

Why is everyone mute now?

Is Kano State not in Nigeria?

Is this not a more serious issue/reason for all Nigerians to wear black rags & truly OCCUPY NIGERIA with peaceful protest against mass killings of
innocent ones?

How safe are you now where you
are? Yes! you reading this status & feeling safe.

Do we have energy & strength only on subsidy removal issues?

Everyone is afraid now Abi?

What a BIG SHAME My heart is filled with mountain of grief, all toothless
bulldogs can’t even bark any more ‘cos money is not involved for them to fight for. I am really disappointed!!!!
All the different groups and NLC should launch a “sit at home” campaign in protest, till FGN resolves this…

OLAMIDE POPULAR ARTISTE IMPREGNATE AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT IN LAGOS.

January 8, 2012 Leave a comment

Olamide impregnate an undergraduate, get a twin
babies at age 27. Olamide is now a father of a twin
babies happy delivery o lol! Below are the
excerpts… Popstar Olamide has fathered his first set of twin at
27, The beloved hit-maker and ladies man has been
linked to many women – most times older than he is
– and pundits had feared he could be heading the
way of misdemeanour if care is not taken. Now, as our investigations reveal, the young man
impregnated an undergraduate named bukky
several months ago, and the lady has since put to
bed. Before delivering a set of twin for Olamide two
months ago, we’re told bukky who resides in ketu,
Lagos was studying in the University of Lagos , Nigeria. This is not something his close friends and
associates would want
to reveal for now. And we’re told his parents and
mentors insist they’ll wait until a DNA confirmation,
before fully admitting the twin is Olamide’s.
At least two colleagues confirm to us, that the debutant allegedly fathered a set of twin in
november. Multiple sources who are familiar with
the ‘babymama’ and her family also tell us ‘it was
widely known to us all when they were dating. And
we knew when she got pregnant for him’.
In an elaborate chat with a Nigerian Entertainment Today editor, Olamide denies having a set of Twin. ‘
No, I don’t. It’s just a rumour, I’m not thinking
about that right now ’. In the interview held last week at Ogudu-GRA, in
Lagos and published in this week’s edition of
Nigerian Entertainment Today Newspaper, he
continues, ‘ I really don’t want to find myself in that
kind of situation, I’m all about my music now ‘.
But our sources, who want to remain anonymous, insist Olamide has fathered his first set of twin
babies..
Will Olamide, follow in the footsteps of 2face Idibia
(five kids from three women), JJC (three kids from
threewomen), 9ice (three kids from two women,
one of whom is still legally married to him and the likes of Father U Turn, KWAM 1, KSA , and many
other musicians who have children from multiple
relationships? Or will he settle with his baby’s
mother and make a home?.

28-year Old Man, Segun Bakare Stranggle His Mother To Death!

December 30, 2011 Leave a comment

A 28-year old man, Segun Bakare has been
charged to Ijeshatedo Magistrate’s court, Lagos
State, southwest Nigeria for killing his mother, Mrs.
Kudirat Bakare. Segun was alleged to have used a rope and
strangled Kudirat while she was asleep.
While Kudirat was struggling to save her life, Segun
ensured that she died by using a broken bottle to
stab her.
The incident happened at 3, Musa Street, Mushin, Lagos, in their family house.
The circumstance that led Segun to murder Kudirat
was not clear yet. However, P.M.NEWS gathered that
Segun had a quarrel with the late Kudirat after
which he left their house.
Later, he returned while his mother was asleep and reportedly tied her neck with a rope and strangled
her, broke a bottle and stabbed her all over her
body.
She bled profusely and died before she could be
taken to hospital. After that, Segun attempted to
escape but he was held by their neighbours who handed him to the police.
The police later charged him to court.
Part of the charge reads: “That you, Segun Bakare
did kill Mrs. Kudirat Bakare by stabbing her to
death.”
The offence, according to the police, was contrary to section 319 of the criminal code cap 38, vol. 2
laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2004.
When the matter came up at the court, the
prosecutor, Inspector Ezekiel Ayorinde, informed
the court that the nature of the crime was a capital
offence and sought the permission of the court to seek the DPP’s advice.
Consequently, the presiding magistrate, Mrs. D. T.
Olalokun ordered that he should be remanded at
Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Apapa, Lagos pending
when the DPP’s advice would be ready.
The matter was adjourned. Some people can be so heartless!!!http://
